Well, I’ve had this little Iphone 3G plaything for a little while now and the long term feeling about this phone is a good one. The phone still has plenty to keep you occupied in the way of applications and the phone itself is withstanding the vigour's of everyday life quite well.
With the new Iphone OS 3.0 Software Update, it brought the things that critics said that the Iphone 3G should have had in the first place. This includes the following:
- Cut, Copy and Paste (at last ! ! ! )
- Landscape keyboard layout
- MMS
- Spotlight search
- Voice Memo’s
- Improved Calendar
- Safari updates
- Internet tethering
- Stereo Bluetooth
- Shake to Shuffle
All of these were much anticipated and now make the Iphone experience a bit more complete. The OS 3.0 itself is relatively stable with only a few crashes at the moment. Although one gripe I am having is that sometimes applications stay open and drain the battery down in about an hour without you really noticing until the battery turns red!
Extended Pro’s
- OS 3.0 brings many improvements
- Phone has lasted vigorous usage
- Touchscreen still working great
- Apps store is as busy as ever
- Copy and paste is a dream come true
- Landscape keyboard works well
Extended Con’s
- OS 3.0 has not improved battery life
- Still has the odd crash and hang
Well, the Iphone 3G proves why it is such a popular phone. Not many phones last a year, but it is safe to say that the Iphone 3G still has a lot of legs left in it yet.
Still the touchscreen phone to beat. Even being on the market for a while now, no other touchscreen device feels as good or as accomplished as the Apple Iphone 3G.
