Here at Blackberry Centre, our users are real users that use their Blackberries everyday.
We don’t just review for the sake of it, we actually put the devices through their stride.
Behold the Blackberry 8820. This smart phone is for the no nonsense business user that wants an email smart phone to do just that! Send emails!
The 8820 lacks a camera which belies its corporate aim, but what it loses in multimedia and bulkiness, it makes up for it in terms of usability. Owing to the size of the 8820, typing out long emails is neither a problem nor a chore as the keys are well spaced ( with good tactile feel ) and also the screen is large enough to see much of the email at an instant.
The battery life is good for a couple of days on a single charge even with lots of finger happy frantic email typing.
The desktop manager synchronises well with Outlook ( or any other PIM ) and if you
have a Blackberry Enterprise Server, then all the contacts, calendar items etc. Synchronise
over wireless -
Call quality is good although it may take some getting used to when you put a large smartphone to the side of your head to make a call. That said, it is smaller and lighter than many other smartphones out there.
The device is robust as we’ve dropped it a couple of times and apart from some exterior scratches, the device seems to have held itself together.
Pro’s
Con’s
The 8820 is the device for people who demand performance over form. What it loses in terms of good looks, it makes up for in it’s performance and emailing abilities.
The true smart phone for the on the road business person that demands 100% for communications.
