The Samsung F700 was Vodafone and Samsungs answer to the O2 Iphone. Released at around the same time, the F700 boasted many things but alas did not really sell anywhere near as much as the O2 Apple Iphone.

The F700 is a touchscreen phone with a slide out keyboard and is reasonably well sized. The battery itself is quite good and will quite happily go on for a couple of days on a single charge.

This was the first Samsung to use it’s touschreen Cross interface where a cross follows your fingers when you select an icon on the screen. This was more of a gimmick than anything else.

Aside from the Iphone comparisons, the F700 was pretty standard affair with POP3 emails, SMS, camera, music player etc.

The camera, although being a relatively resolution was very bad in the way that it would take 2 to 3 seconds for a picture to be taken after the click. That said, when the conditions were right, the photo’s were pretty good.

Emailing wise, really doesn’t stand a chance against the Blackberry - but then, if you wanted an email phone, surely you wouldn’t have opted for this in the first place.

The Samsung Soul F700 is not a bad phone. But inevitably,  it was going to be compared to the Iphone and unfortunately, the lack of bells and whistles meant that it fell far from its counterpart. As a phone, it works fine, but then, so do many others out there as well.
