Here at Blackberry Centre, our users are real users that use their Blackberries everyday.
We don’t just review for the sake of it, we actually put the devices through their stride.
The Sony Ericsson W960i is Sony Ericsson’s flagship walkman smartphone. It integrates a touchscreen surface with a conventional phone keyboard all with 8Gb onboard memory.
On paper the W960i is a powerhouse of a phone boasting 3G and wifi connectivity. In practice, the phone isn’t that well rounded.
The interface is slow and clunky, the music player is not a match for the iPhone 3G and it is extremely slow when the 8Gb memory starts to build up.
The phone function is good and you can make decent calls with this. The contacts retrieval however can be cumbersome ( I’ve been spoilt by Blackberry ).
The battery life is reasonably good and the W960i will quite happily survive a couple of days on a single charge.
Emailing is possible on this phone but as it is slow and clunky, I would not advise you to use this part of the phone unless you really have to.
The music play quality is good, however, the whole interface for the music player is quite un intuitive and is not a hack on the much better iPhone 3G.
Pro’s
Con’s
The W960i is a good alternative to the iPhone3G but try pushing its boundaries into emails and this smartphone struggles to keep up.
